Privacy Policy

Last updated 18 October 2026

Prepza helps you plan meals and track what you eat. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Information you give us

Account details: your email address, password (stored securely by our authentication provider - we never see it), name, and optionally a username, profile photo and bio. If you sign in with Apple or Facebook, we receive your name and email address from them.

Health and body information: your age, sex, height, weight, activity level, weight goal and the daily energy and nutrient targets you set, and any weight you log. This is sensitive information under Australian privacy law; we collect it only with your consent, to work out and track your targets.

Your food diary and plans: foods, meals and recipes you log or save, amounts, exercise, water, coffee, custom nutrients, meal prep plans and your shopping list.

Things you post and share: posts, photos, comments, likes ("Yummies"), who you follow, and reports you make.

Food data you contribute: products, nutrition label photos, corrections and "correct / incorrect" checks you add to Prepza’s shared food database.

Information collected when you use features

Voice logging: your recording is sent to a speech-to-text service to turn it into text, then discarded. We keep the text only as the food entries you choose to log.

Photo and text logging, label reading and recipe import: the photo, text or web page you provide is sent to an AI service to identify foods or read nutrition information. The results are shown to you to review before anything is saved.

Barcode scans and food searches: the barcode or search words are sent to food databases (Open Food Facts directly from your device, and FatSecret through our servers) to find matching products.

We do not use analytics or advertising trackers, sell your information, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

How we use your information

To run Prepza: calculate your targets, keep your diary, plans and settings, and sync them across your devices.

To run the social features you choose to use: show your posts to people you share them with, and send you notifications about activity on them.

To keep the shared food database accurate and the community safe: including reviewing reports and removing content or accounts that break our Terms of Use.

To provide support, keep Prepza secure and fix problems.

What other people can see

Your diary, health information and targets are private to you. Your name, username, profile photo, bio, posts, comments and likes are visible to other Prepza users. When you share a meal you can choose whether its ingredients are shown.

If you choose to share your diary with a coach or personal trainer (Settings → Coach or PT), they can see your food diary, targets, exercise (including what Apple Health sends to Prepza), water, coffee and weight, and leave you notes. They can’t change anything. Sharing only starts when you give them a code, and you can stop it at any time; they lose access straight away. Coaches must use what they see only to coach you.

Products and corrections you add to the shared food database are visible to everyone and stay available after you delete your account, no longer linked to you.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers that run parts of Prepza for us, and only what they need: Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage), Anthropic (AI reading of photos, labels, text and recipes), Groq (speech-to-text for voice logging), FatSecret and Open Food Facts (food databases), Expo (app delivery and updates), and Apple, Google and Meta if you use their sign-in or app stores.

Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

Keeping and deleting your information

We keep your information while you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account & data. This permanently deletes your account, diary, health information, posts, comments, photos and settings. Backups may keep copies for up to 30 days before they are overwritten.

Foods and products you added to the shared database stay for others to use, but are no longer linked to you.

Your choices and rights

You can see and correct most of your information directly in the app. You can ask us for a copy of your personal information, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing us.

If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Children

Prepza is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Your information is encrypted in transit and access to it is restricted, so only you (and our service providers acting for us) can reach your private data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Changes and contact

We will update this policy if how we handle information changes, and tell you in the app about significant changes.
